January 2027 Holidays: Fun Days and Easy Celebration Ideas
January 2027 has more to offer than resolutions. National Popcorn Day falls on Tuesday, January 19; Library Shelfie Day is Wednesday, January 27; and Puzzle Day is Friday, January 29. Here is a small reason to enjoy each day, plus a few plans you can actually fit into the month.
This is a selection of fun observances, food days and celebrations, not a complete public-holiday calendar. Many “national days” are informal US traditions rather than days off work. The ideas below are ours; the dates come from the linked organizers and calendar sources.
January holidays worth putting in your calendar
January 2: World Introvert Day
The organizer’s site places World Introvert Day on January 2. Make it a low-pressure Saturday: invite someone to read in the same room, share a playlist or take a quiet walk. Give them an easy way to decline. A celebration can be good company without becoming a party.
January 19: National Popcorn Day
The Popcorn Board confirms January 19. For a Tuesday evening, choose a short film before you make the popcorn; otherwise the entire evening can disappear into deciding what to watch. Split one batch into two bowls and compare seasonings you already have.
January 23: National Pie Day
National Pie Day falls on a Saturday in 2027. Buy two different slices to share, or make a small pie together. This food observance is distinct from Pi Day on March 14, the mathematical date written 3/14.
January 29: National Puzzle Day
Puzzle Day founder Jodi Jill identifies January 29 as the annual date. Set out a jigsaw for a Friday evening, make a five-clue puzzle for a friend or trade word games. Agree on a stopping time so a relaxing activity does not turn into a race to finish.

Which January dates change in 2027?
Library Shelfie Day is January 27, 2027. It follows the fourth Wednesday in January, as described by the Wyoming State Library. Pick three books that say something about your year ahead and photograph them together. Sharing the photo is optional; it can simply become your reading list.
Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day is January 25, 2027. The rule is the last Monday in January, recorded by National Day Calendar. If a parcel leaves you with some spare wrapping, the occasion is ready-made. There is no need to buy packaging just for the day.
These dates were calculated for 2027 from the weekday rules. They should not be copied from a 2026 calendar. Our guide to holidays that change date explains the difference between fixed dates, weekday rules and other calendars.
Three easy January plans
- For a family: a ten-minute quiz on January 4. For Trivia Day, let each person write one question about something they enjoy. Include a picture round so younger players can take part. The prize can be choosing the next game.
- For two: a miniature book club on January 27. Each bring a book and read a favorite paragraph aloud. Use Library Shelfie Day as an excuse to discover what the other person likes, without assigning a whole novel.
- For yourself: a hot-chocolate pause on January 31. Make your usual warm drink, put your phone away and write down one enjoyable thing from January. Keep the plan small enough to repeat in February.
Are these January holidays official days off?
Most of the playful days in this guide are not public holidays. Names such as “National Puzzle Day” describe an observance, not a legal entitlement to time off. For school closures, bank holidays or travel, use the official calendar for your country or region.
